Mike Hooten grew up in Missouri and Kansas where his dad, Jim, was a football and golf coach. In school, he played football and baseball. After earning a finance degree from Angelo State University, Mike built a successful insurance career that continues today.
In 1991, Mike started selling t-shirts to athletes, coaches, parents, and boosters out of his car at state tournaments and other major high school sporting events. Mike offered sharp designs on high-quality t-shirts that were customized with the names of team members. He sold a lot of shirts that way and continued to offer his products on a part-time basis for the next 18 years. That's when Mike decided to take Keepsake Shirts to the next level by installing higher-capacity printing equipment and implementing a nationwide marketing effort.
